Hidcote Comfrey grows to about 45cm high only, being somewhat shorter than its wilder brothers. It also bears curled clusters or cymes of nodding flowers – 12-15mm long - which are blue-mauve to pink-white. The leaves are light green, crinkled, oval and pointed and are poisonous if ingested. A coarsely hairy perennial, it is an introduction and usually a garden escape which grows on roadsides close to domestic habitation.
I first spotted and photograph this plant in 2010 near Wellingtonbridge, Co Wexford.
