Only reaching a heigh ot 12cm, this plant creeps along the ground, rooting at intervals. It has clusters of 4-8mm blue flowers which have petals with slightly-notched lobes and the flower seems to have a yellow 'eye'. Hairs on the flowering stems are appressed, with the hairs on lower stems spreading. The calyx tube is divided more than halfway into calyx teeth.There are leafy bracts on the lower part of inflorescence. The leaves are pale, oblong, on reddish stems. This plant grows in damp, acid soil, marshes & bogs. It is a native perennial, widespread except for centre and it belongs to the Borage family.
I first came across and photographed this plant in Tullycanna, Co Wexford in 2012.
